Take a peek inside a Sight Word Book…

Three flashcards with cartoon animals: an owl, a skunk, and a bird, each with a sentence describing what they see. The owl card says 'I see an owl,' the skunk card says 'I see a skunk,' and the bird card says 'I see a bird.'

A primary benefit of teaching sight words is to build confidence. Sight words are essentially a picture of letters that little ones can begin to identify. Building on the vocabulary to make a full sentence, each sight word book repeats the same pattern to develop other, more common words.
